SPF, which abbreviates Sender Policy Framework, is a certification system that is aimed at preventing the so-called e-mail counterfeiting. Essentially, it indicates sending a message from one email address and making it appear to be sent from another with the objective to scam in some way the person opening it. When the SPF protection is active for a domain, a record which includes all mail servers authorized to send messages with addresses within the domain is generated. The record is saved on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic around the world, so they all will identify whether an email message originates from a trustworthy server or not. The check is done at the first server where the email goes through and in the first case the e-mail message is forwarded, while in the second one it's removed and it never gets to the intended recipient. Using SPF records for your domain names will prevent any unwanted people from making use of your email addresses for harmful objectives.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to activate it is to choose one of your domain names from the drop-down list and to type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be permitted to send email messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution offers you the highest level of security, but it's not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain name are taken care of somewhere else. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is provided with all Linux semi-dedicated servers, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you're able to activate this particular service without difficulty for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a quite intuitive interface, which means that you will not have to be tech-savvy in order to secure your email addresses. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be active for the domain that you've chosen. As an extra option, we'll also allow you to limit the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even further by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name in question includes our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain need to be handled on our end and not by another provider. In this way you'll enjoy even superior control and there will not be any chance for anybody to fake your emails for harmful purposes.
